How working at a Call Centre in the Philippines changed my carrer views

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010

Before, I just wanted to work in the Philippines Outsourcing industry for two reasons, the first one was the fact that working in a call center would give me higher salary compared to any other establishments and the second one, was because I just like communicating. But when I started working in this industry, it was more than what I expected. This Philippines BPO and telemarketing company has opened my eyes to the real path of success. I could say that this is the easiest job yet exciting, that I just have to sit all night and listen to customers concerns. But sometimes, this could be very challenging but I’m good with it and I’m happy with how the company treats us in such a way that they anticipate our needs.

My call center in the Philippines provides us good amenities such as nice sleeping quarters and recreation areas. They also train us properly on how to deal with customers needs. It’s not just simply answering the customer’s queries but thinking out of the box to satisfy their needs. I also learned that in order to survive in this kind of job, we have to be patient enough, determined in what we do and most especially, stay healthy which is the most important. I have learned a lot from working in a call center and this learning will serve as my stepping stone in achieving my goal and dream. Well, in terms of success, I haven’t gone there yet but I believe that I’m on the right track.

Filipino Call Center Writing 2

Monday, June 28th, 2010

Nowadays finding a job is not that easy, there is a lot of competition. You have to be at least the cream of the crop, resourceful and most specially flexible. But do you know that there is a new industry where you can land a job which does not really require you to be the cream of the crop but of course you need to be resourceful and flexible. It’s called call center and was coined as the “sunshine industry”. The Philippines call center industry paved way for thousands of jobs for Filipinos. With the huge number of unemployed people in the Philippines, Pinoy call centers uplifted and helped a lot of people in reaching their goals and dreams. It provides good pay, compensation and benefits better than other industries.

But some people have the mind set that working in a call center does not provide a career path. I firmly believed that it provides career opportunities, growth and development. I myself can attest to it. I started as an agent and in three months time I was promoted as a supervisor. I am now handling a team and I’ve been exposed to a lot of training needed for the job. I actually see myself growing with or working in the customer service field. What I loved most in this kind of industry is the freedom and self-fulfillment that it provides that can’t be matched by other companies. I would definitely recommend to everyone to work in a Filipino call center if they want to build a career and reach their dreams.

Working in a call center isn’t that easy. You need to sacrifice a lot of things. Your family, friends and lifestyle. I decided to work in a call center here in the Philippines for the main reason that I want to help my parents and siblings. Fortunately,I was employed to an outbound call center in the Philippines. My tasks includes telemarketing and lead generation for three years now. It really changed my life a lot, I have to be away from my family since we don’t have any call center yet in our place. I have to stand on my own feet in order to help them. In short I need to be independent. At first I was really very lonely knowing that I’m alone and far away from my family. I really miss them and there also times that I can’t help but cry. And then I realized I need to be brave for them. So, I started to adjust with the situation. I have no choice but to accept my job and be happy with my work. I started to love my job.

It’s really fun working in an inbound or outbound call center. You gain a lot of friends, learn a lot of things. Especially when your still in training. It’s the best part in a call center because you meet a lot of people, mingle with them and talk about anything. It’s very fun and interesting. There are lots of activities that you all need to perform, metrics you need to pass. But in the end it’s all worthwhile. You’ll be paid a higher salary. I was able to help my parents financially and it’s a nice feeling knowing that I can make them happy and proud.

Call Center Agent Post “Health is Wealth” Part 2

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

Doctors have recommended to get at least 8 hours of sleep each day. And I recommend, when you sleep, as much as possible, be in a quite environment. This will really help you to have a sound sleep. In my case, as an inbound call center agent for 3 years, my technique was this: I always turn on my iPod and tune it to classic or mellow songs and it makes me feel calm and easy to doze off and I tell you it really works. Also, lock the door in your room so that no one can enter to disturb you. When you are struggling to sleep during the daytime often a sleeping mask is very effective too.

You must eat a balanced diet: vegetables and fruits are a great pick – nutritious foods for a healthy body. Some Philippine Outsourcing companies like call centers are very health conscious so they put up food stations that offer healthy snacks for the employees. I have a friend who is very watchful of her food intake and she makes sure that she only eats organic and green foods like vegetables and fish. Moving forward, when at work and you feel sleepy, try to walk around to keep your blood in circulation and when you wake up, do some exercise that would keep your body and mind active and functioning. Do anything that will get your body in motion – patterned and in shape. Working in a call center shouldn’t mean that you aren’t keeping your body healthy, after all, health is wealth.

Call Center Agent Post “Health is Wealth” Part 1

Thursday, June 24th, 2010

One of the biggest challenges for call center agents has been maintaining good health and a healthy lifestyle. When you try to ask an inbound agent how they manage their life working in a contact center, particularly those who are working in the night shift, they would just simply say, “it’s a matter of discipline and respect.” The health of an agent is very fragile because when it breaks, you will have a hard time in fixing it again. There’s nothing to be taken away from you when you take good care of yourself and it’s not difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle even if you are working in the night shift.

Many call center agents find themselves a bit disoriented in managing their time at first, but if you are responsible enough to know what things can help you, then you will be better off. You can embrace your new world, live your new life, and then you can say, “hey this is easy” Call centers in the Philippines and particularly those in Cebu City, have taken action on this matter and were spreading educational information on how to handle stress and how to stay fit and healthy. Do not take for granted sleeping after your shift and refrain from doing unimportant things so you will be energized to work on your next shift. Don’t abuse you body. If you feel restless and sleepy already, don’t deprive your body of rest.
